Groundhog Day is a Hoax!

Yep, you heard it here first, ladies and gentlemen, the holiday we know as Groundhog Day, and it's weather forecasting rodent are a fake!  When  the big day came around, we all heard that Punxsutawney Phil had seen his shadow, and therefore, six more weeks of winter were to come.  Well, we haven't had that bad of a winter, so I didn't think it was unreasonable that we would get some winter weather.  It is February.  But, I got a little suspicious when I heard that two other groundhog prognosticators - Staten Island Chuck, and General Beau Lee in Georgia didn't see their shadow, and therefore there would be an early Spring.  The kicker, was when Aunt Pat read an article in our local newspaper that said that Phil's prediction is decided upon in advance by the "Inner Circle".  I knew it was a conspiracy.  Now Aunt Pat can't even find the newspaper article she read online.  Seriously.   Somebody doesn't want the word to get out.  But Freddy and I are digging up the truth...even if it isn't in the backyard.

Neither Freddy nor I saw our shadows, so we predict an early Spring.   If Freddy has his way, we'll have an early Summer, too.  We went over to his first people's house the other day, and Freddy found the wading pool he used as a puppy.  He remembered it, too.
He loves the water, even when it's not coming from the hose.  It  was a little too cold to turn the hose on.  He can't wait to play in the pool with Stanley and Jade.  Daddy and Aunt Pat are going to get a wading pool for the house.  Aunt Pat hopes that if she can keep Freddy occupied with the water, that maybe he won't eat the vegetables in the garden, like Heidi did.
So they just pretended there was water coming out of it, and Freddy licked at it too.
Silly boy.  I'm always up for a good game, but this was getting a little ridiculous.
But, our Freddy didn't want to give it up.  I know he hopes we're right with our prediction of an early Spring.

I'm a Very Brave Girl

Daddy and Aunt Pat took me to the Vet today.  I got a shot for distemper and didn't even flinch!  Of course I didn't flinch.  My temper is quite wonderful, thank you very much.  Granted, I didn't appreciate the doctor looking in my ears or at my teeth, but I was a good girl.  It was so good to see our friends at the Vet's office again. I've even lost some weight since my last visit.  I do have some tartar on my teeth and may need to have them cleaned, but it might not be until later in the year.  I'll have to go back in April or May, depending on the weather, to have my heart worm test.  Good thing I have some warning.  I'll have plenty of time to study.

Aunt Pat's giving me this look.  Okay, I know the heart worm test isn't something I can take like a human takes a test.  I may be cute, sweet and fluffy, but I've got brains too.   Tomorrow, I'll have a post that will shatter one's illusions about animal weather forecasting.
