Who's That Doggie in the Window?

It's Chloe! This evening, while we were outside, Aunt Pat heard a growling noise. At first, she couldn't tell if it was the air conditioner, or somebody revving their car. But, it was Chloe! She was standing in front of one of the basement windows. Her ears were up, and she stared straight ahead. Aunt Pat first thought Chloe cornered a mouse or a chipmunk, but she didn't see anything. Chloe then squatted into her play posture, barked and then ran away. Turns out, Chloe saw her reflection in the window and tried to introduce herself and play with it! Silly girl!

We want to send out a special "Get Well Soon!" wishes to Mommy, who fell this week and broke some fingers. Lots of sloppy kisses coming her way!

Katie and Chloe are resting on our new dog bed! Aunt Pat crocheted this for us so we wouldn't rest on a cold floor in the winter. Well, it took her longer than she thought, but she finally finished it. I checked it out to make sure it was okay. But right now, I'm letting Katie and Chloe use it. I don't mind the floor. Heck, it'll give me more room to spread out on the sofa.

We Keep Meeting New Friends!

We hope everyone had a nice Memorial Day weekend, and hope everyone took a moment away from the fun to remember those who died in service to our country. We had a nice weekend. We played outside a lot and made more friends! Daddy cooked out Monday. The weather was great, so Daddy didn't get soaked like he did the last time. I tried to tell him to shake it off like we do, but he thought I was barking for a biskee and gave us treats.

Sunday was Mr. S's birthday and his family was over to celebrate. Daddy and Aunt Pat used to play with the S's puppies...err kids when they were younger. Their kids came over to the fence when they heard Katie's "hello" bark. The adult humans had a nice time talking about old times, while we met the kids. They were so nice. Chloe and Katie licked their fingers. I sniffed them, but was more interested in playing fetch. The adults were nice enough to toss the ball to me.

Of course we took some time to relax. We didn't all use Katie as a pillow. I made sure she was okay after her little "encounter" with Chloe. We had so much fun this weekend, I forgot to chew up any more tennis balls!

Aunt Pat Got Me a Six Pack!

No, not that kind of a six pack. This kind of a six pack.

I had chewed all of the tennis balls in the bag that she'd gotten at Walmart, and playing fetch with the other toys wasn't the same. I concentrated more on trimming, um, eating the grass, mind you. Daddy works so hard mowing the lawn, I want to do my part to earn my biskees.
Anyway, when she got home, I didn't quite know what to make of the package. I gave it a good smell, but I didn't recognize the familiar tennis ball smell. But, when Aunt Pat opened the container, I got so excited! We went outside and played a little fetch. It was so good to taste the tennis ball again, I couldn't stop chewing!

In fact, I chewed so much, I chewed that ball up within an hour of Aunt Pat bringing it home, and later that day chewed up the second one in the package.
I'm still using the third ball, but still chew it when we're out back. I love to chew it when I'm laying on my back, rolling around in the grass. Sometimes I'll roll on them, like one of those fancy massage thingies.

More New Friends!

This weekend we made more new friends! Mrs. G's son and his family came for a visit to celebrate his sister's birthday. They arrived on Saturday, and Mrs. G's daughter-in-law and granddaughter came out to the fence to say hello when we were out after dinner. They're very nice, and they even played fetch with me! Katie barked at them, of course, but she warmed up to them and eventually licked their fingers through the fence! They asked a lot of questions about us, since they're thinking of adopting a small dog. We didn't see them much on Sunday because of the rain, but they came to say goodbye before they left. Katie and Chloe still run to the fence every time they go out to say hello to the neighbors we've met. Katie, Chloe and Lucky, the dog we met last week, even have conversations of sorts when we're both outside.

Meeting Lucky

Yesterday afternoon Aunt Pat had us out in the backyard when Katie and Chloe ran to the back fence and started barking like they normally do when the neighbors are out. Katie's bark is more of the "stranger danger" kind, and Chloe is a little "stranger danger" mixed with "nice to meet you! Pet me, I'm your friend." It turns out that the S's other next door neighbor was visiting with their dog, Lucky. Once in a while we'll hear Lucky barking and Katie will answer him back, but we'd never met snout to snout. Lucky and his humans came over to the fence and we had a good sniff. Chloe was ready to play right away, but it took Katie a few minutes to warm up to Lucky. They had a good sniff, and I went over to say hello in between tosses of the tennis ball. Mrs. S was nice enough to toss the ball for me, while the humans chatted.

I hope nobody got the idea I was bragging or that I'm the only one who looks after the humans. Katie and Chloe do too. They'll wander into the bathroom if we think either Aunt Pat or Daddy's been in there too long, or if Daddy's ironing. When Daddy cuts the grass we'll bark in the front window to remind him to be careful. Yesterday Daddy washed the car and we barked to make sure he didn't miss a spot. Katie and Chloe also will lay down by Aunt Pat's computer. It just depends on how much room there is. Sometimes we'll go into the hall or in the dog bed in Daddy's room.

It may look like we're napping, but we're really awake. We know it can be creepy to have three sets of eyes staring at you. The snoring is just a cover. If someone comes in or Aunt Pat moves, we're awake and ready if we're needed.

I Follow Aunt Pat Everywhere

even here. Yes, this is the bathroom, and I'm laying on the rug in front of the tub. If it's okay for the humans to watch us do potties in the backyard, they shouldn't be surprised if one of us comes into the bathroom before, during or after they've done their business. Besides, I need to look out for Aunt Pat. I know she has problems with her balance and I want to make sure she doesn't fall. I also want to be sure she has something to lean against if she's walking and gets a little tippy. I've nudged her while we've gone up the stairs. Sometimes she can have vertigo if Chloe runs up the stairs on her other side. Here I made sure she cleaned the bathroom without any trouble. Let's face it, the bathroom is the most dangerous room in the house.

I watch her while she's in the kitchen, too, but I try not to be obvious about it. Once lunch or dinner is made I'll do a little begging, but I don't overdo it. Even after almost 3 months living here, looking cute and helping out, Aunt Pat still doesn't share her food...except for the rare pretzel. But, I always bark for, and get a biskee when we're done in here. They're right in the pantry, anyway. Katie and Chloe stay in here, too, but they're looking to get whatever Aunt Pat may drop on the floor.

We can't forget the laundry room. It gets a little cramped in there, especially if Daddy or Aunt Pat have the ironing board out. So I usually take up my position in the family room. I have a great view inside, straight for the door. Then, once the humans are done, we can go outside and play fetch!

Here, we're in the front bedroom/den. This is the room Aunt Pat slept in when she was a puppy..err, kid. There's a lot of stuff in the room. Aunt Pat keeps her yarn in here as well as her computer and some books. Even though she cleaned out some stuff before we moved in, she still has some organizing to do...alright, a lot of organizing and cleaning to do.

Chloe's Back From the Groomer

And she looks gorgeous! She was very happy and excited when she got home. She should be, since she just went to a famous salon! The local newspaper profiled them in yesterday's paper.

She was so excited that she tried to drink out of the toilet upstairs, but Aunt Pat stopped her. Thank heavens! Even though it looks like a nice big dog dish, it's not for drinking. Chloe finally calmed down and found the water bowl and had a proper drink. Then she caught her breath and we all went outside. A girl can only hold it for so long, you know. Hopefully she didn't have an accident at the Groomer. That would be so embarassing. It's not something a lady would admit to, anyway.

The Groomer put little purple bows in her hair, and a pink bandana to celebrate the local Lilac Festival . The bows and the bandana also match the lilacs in our back yard! Chloe didn't roll around the yard like I did after I got home from the Groomer. She just rubbed her head a little on the grass. Chloe must've listened to Aunt Pat when she called Chloe's name to stop her. Either that, or Chloe didn't want to do a complete roll in the grass. Even though she's done it a couple of times, I'm not sure Chloe has the roll in the grass thing down completely yet. That would be so embarassing. Chloe wouldn't admit it if she had.

Afterwards, we came in and had a short nap.

Hair Today, Gone Tomorrow!

Katie and Chloe spent Saturday night at Mommy's with Aunts Allie and Gabriella. They had a good time and were pretty pooped when they got home. Chloe and Gabriella took a nap with paw in hand. They didn't have their cameras around so they couldn't get a picture, but it was even cuter than it sounds! I missed them. I didn't feel like playing fetch as much while they were gone. But, Aunt Pat and Daddy gave me extra tummy rubs which was wonderful!

This is Chloe this afternoon, her "before" photo. Daddy's dropping her off at the groomer's tomorrow for a haircut. She almost looks like a sheep, especially when she's out in the yard eating grass. I guess that makes her a dog in sheep's clothing...instead of a wolf in sheep's clothing, get it? Aunt Pat will hopefully post the "after" photos tomorrow or Friday at the latest.

I, of course, continue my domination over anything tennis ball. Today alone, I've chewed through
two of them, which brings the total to six in the past week! True, there is still one in the back yard that only has a small piece out of it, but I'm getting to it. I haven't played as much fetch with the balls, since I'd rather chew them then give them back. I have been playing fetch with a rope pull toy that had a baseball in the middle. Chloe and I played with it so much, the rope ends came off and now the stuffing is coming out of the ball.

Katie and Chloe Went Out!

Katie and Chloe went to the Vet this morning to have their blood drawn for Heartworm and Lyme disease. They were very excited, and nervous, but they did fine. Katie gained 2 pounds!

That's not something a girl wants to hear. No wonder she didn't want to go to the scale until Aunt Pat went with her and the Vet Tech. Chloe has lost a couple of ounces. Otherwise, they're both fine. Daddy and Aunt Pat said they were going to cut back on the treats. Hmm. I wonder if I'll get two biskees now instead of one? I'd be happy to eat Katie's for her. We all want her to stay healthy and get her girlish figure back. If I have to play more fetch to burn off the extra calories, I'd be happy to.

Chloe is getting better at rolling in the grass. She's been practicing. I'm not sure she totally appreciates the feeling of the sun on her belly, the aroma of the spring grass, and the good scratch, because I think she's been focused more on her technique.
